A Cupcake Post

My family and friends can attest to the sheer joy I’ve found in cupcakes. I’ve tried Sonja’s, Frostings’, and Ienne’s… And just last week, Cathycakes‘ cupcakes! Cathycakes was born out of hobby— she used to bake these delectable cupcakes as a “weekend stress reliever”.

This box of 4 cupcakes cost me P173 only (additional 3 pesos for the Christmas topper on one cupcake).
From left to right:
Vanilla cupcake with chocolate buttercream, Blueberry cheesecake (butter cakes with blueberries and cream cheese frosting), Moist chocolate cupcake with vanilla buttercream, and Red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting.
Being an impartial cupcake lover, I can testify that Cathycakes is the best from my list! Sonja’s came off to me as too sweet (and overhyped!), Frostings’… well I do applaud their frosting but the cake itself is a tad dry, and Ienne’s is just too expensive for their cupcakes which are not as elaborate as these.
Cathycakes’ cupcakes, on the other hand, are not too sweet, all are baked in the right amount with the right mix! It is moist enough, sweet enough, dense enough… You really will relish every bite in your mouth! My family’s eyes were rolling back in their head as they proclaimed their ooohs and aaaahs.
Maybe what made the difference is the fact that Cathy is the one baking these cupcakes, the other three are commercial establishments already, hence everything is mass produced. Cathycakes are home-baked, and based on my pastry consumption history, there is always a different charm with home-baked products (that’s why my favorite cakes are home-baked as well!).

Trust me, you will surrender in defeat to this one

I know you want one! Order your own box at Cathycakes’ site.

This is a tale of a 22-year old who recently found solace in running and travelling. On most days, she's just the usual cranky law student, but's leave that out, won't we?
